Sports wood flooring is a sports wood flooring system with excellent load-bearing capacity, high shock absorption, and deformation resistance. The friction coefficient of its surface must reach 0.4-0.7, as being too slippery or too rough can cause harm to athletes. Its excellent shock absorption can effectively prevent athletes from sports injuries. As sports wood flooring for basketball courts, it also needs to have a ball rebound capability of over 90%.

Classification of Wood Flooring

Wood flooring can be broadly divided into three categories: maple, oak, and birch solid wood flooring.

Solid wood flooring is a natural material with irreplaceable advantages over synthetic materials. It is non-toxic and odorless, provides a comfortable feeling underfoot, and keeps warm in winter and cool in summer. However, it also has shortcomings such as high consumption of hardwood resources, significant installation workload, difficulty in maintenance, and significant dimensional changes in the width direction of the floor due to changes in relative humidity.

Maple:

Maple is widely distributed in China, from Northeast China to Yunnan in the south. Due to differences in origin and species, some domestic maple wood is softer, has a loose structure, inconspicuous patterns, and poor gloss, differing from the maple (Acer) produced in Europe and America. For example, the color wood produced in Northeast China is one such type. It has traditionally been used as specialized wood for sports wood flooring in China. Some varieties in Northeast China are similar in quality to imported ones, with good quality. Especially some boards have bird's-eye and tiger-back patterns, which are the top grades of maple.

The reason why maple is considered the only material for manufacturing specialized sports flooring lies not only in its beautiful appearance and texture but also in its characteristics of fibers that are not easy to break or fall off and its ability to return to its original shape after deformation. At the same time, the longer wood fibers and tight wood fiber structure make maple material have good elasticity and hardness. Therefore, the use of maple as sports wood flooring is mainstream in the industry worldwide.

Oak:

Oak is mainly distributed in Northeast, North, and Northwest China, with a small distribution in Central China. It is also distributed in North America, Russia, Japan, Mongolia, and the Korean Peninsula. Oak is the main tree species in the forests of Northeast China.

The wood has a glossy appearance with straight or oblique grains. It is hard and heavy, with an air-dry density of about 0.77g/cm3. It is resistant to moisture and wear. It is suitable for furniture, flooring, etc. It has a hard texture, high strength, and a dense structure. The cutting surface is smooth but prone to cracking, warping, and deformation, and it is difficult to dry. It is moisture-resistant, wear-resistant, not easy to glue, and has good coloring properties.

Oak flooring is common, with high hardness, good stability, and very hard material. It has beautiful patterns. With a minimalist style and rich texture, the details show taste. The texture is relatively clear, and the antique series has a unique charm. Besides high practicality and comfort, the simple and beautiful patterns of oak flooring also give the space more imagination and vitality to a certain extent, making the living room exude a unique and fashionable or natural and primitive atmosphere everywhere.

Birch:

Birch is mainly distributed in the eastern part of the Greater Khingan Mountains and the Lesser Khingan Mountains in Heilongjiang, Northeast China, as well as in Changbai Mountain in Jilin.

Although the distribution area of Mandarin is relatively wide, it is mostly scattered, and due to overcutting, its number is decreasing, and large trees are no longer common. Only individual areas within the distribution zone have established nature reserves (such as Changbai Mountain), and most areas lack specific protection measures. It is recommended that relevant departments select appropriate locations and forests to establish protection points to protect existing large trees.

The green sports wood flooring for stadiums and arenas is a continuous fixed-suspension sports wood flooring system composed of a moisture barrier, an elastic shock absorption layer, a moisture-proof plywood layer, and a panel layer. The panel layer generally uses maple or oak with a thickness of 18mm to 22mm, a width of 52mm to 70mm, and a length of 900mm to 1800mm, featuring grooves and flanges. The putty, primer, and varnish painting process of the panel layer are crucial. It is a high-end surface material with a service life of over 10 years and a one-year warranty. Domestic sports wood flooring can be used for table tennis floors, basketball court floors, badminton court floors, etc. The price of sports wood flooring has a higher cost-performance ratio than similar foreign products.

The construction process includes grinding, applying the bottom primer, applying the top varnish, marking, and installing the baseboard.

It is suitable for the construction of indoor sports venues such as basketball courts, volleyball courts, badminton courts, and table tennis courts.
